We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to assume a substantial number of businesses, but it had to happen within a ten-day period. Not only were we not prepared to manage the backroom there was no banking relationship that could turn this around and certainly not in the time frame we needed. After reviewing the opportunity with the senior team, within forty-eight hours Madison said yes, organized what needed to occur, we were able to commit on time. We secured the business and within ninety days we were operating at a $40MM in billings in twelve offices.
We previously were in the administrative field exclusively and wanted to diversify into the IT space. We contacted Madison to talk through our needs: financing, structuring a deal with a new subject matter expert and needed to learn about the intricacies of the IT space. The Madison team came up with a plan to structure the financing for the new business, made substantial recommendations for structuring the deal with my new partner, spent hours on the phone with my tax and legal advisors and taught me many of the necessary techniques including special practice areas, independent contractor agreements, H1B visa issues, just to name a few. The help and speed of response saved me weeks of planning.
After an excellent several year relationship with Madison we made the mistake of thinking that the only thing that mattered was price and chose to be tempted to jump to another company for a small reduction in the fee. What a mistake. The reporting was awful, the transition was very poorly organized and the support non-existent. Within five months we could not take it anymore and Madison worked with us to exit the arrangement. We have been back with Madison for several years now and I cannot imagine being anywhere else.
